Dalail al-Khairat is a renowned compilation of prayers dedicated to the Islamic prophet Muhammad, authored by the Moroccan Sufi and Islamic scholar Muhammad Sulaiman al-Jazuli ash Shadhili (died 1465). Esteemed among traditional Muslims in various regions of the Islamic world, such as North Africa, the Levant, Turkey, the Caucasus, and South Asia, the text is structured into sections intended for daily recitation. Translated to English, the full title reads "Way-marks of Benefits and the Brilliant Burst of Lights in the Remembrance of Blessings on the Chosen Prophet."
According to legend, the genesis of Dala’il al-Khayrat is attributed to an incident where al-Jazuli, finding himself tardy for his morning prayers and struggling to locate clean water for ablutions, encountered a young girl who, acknowledging al-Jazuli's reputation for piety, marvelled at his quest for water. Witnessing his predicament, she miraculously caused a well to overflow with pure water through her mere act of spitting into it, facilitating al-Jazuli's ablutions. Following this event, upon querying the girl about her spiritual approach, she revealed that her elevated status was achieved by incessantly praying for God's blessings upon the prophet Muhammad with every breath and heartbeat. Stirred by this encounter, al-Jazuli resolved to compile a compendium of prayers beseeching God for His grace and mercy upon Muhammad.
